Murach House

urach House, meaning "House in the Downs", is located in Epsom, Surrey, which is approximately 14 miles (22km) south-west of London and situated between Ashtead and Ewell. The town straddles chalk downland (Epsom Downs) and the upper Thanet Formation. Epsom Downs Racecourse holds The Derby, and the town also gives its name to Epsom salts, extracted from mineral waters there.

Murach House is registered as a six-bedded property, and all rooms are single occupancy and offer en-suite facilities. The property benefits from a large enclosed garden surrounded by picturesque rolling hills and woodland. All bedrooms are decorated according to individual tastes and preferences of the residents, promoting individuality and creating a personal space for each of them.

On the ground floor there are three lounges, one spacious and two smaller lounges which offers a great deal of choice and space for all of our residents. Our highly trained team of staff are on hand to support and promote independence with all aspects of daily living and residents have a large shared kitchen and dining room where they can be supported with not only meal preparation, but various other kitchen activities too.

Epsom is the source of the Hogsmill River and includes the semi-rural Horton and Langley Vale, which is fantastic for walkers, and owing partly to its position and transport infrastructure in the London commuter belt allows easy access to Greater London and the rolling Surrey countryside.

Epsom is also home to the Ebbisham Centre, which is a community service based development and includes a doctors' surgery, Epsom Library, a cafe and a health & fitness centre. Residents can also access The Derby Square, which includes a number of franchise chain and independent restaurant/bars. Locals can also enjoy the Epsom Playhouse theatre, and other facilities include a leisure centre (the Rainbow Centre) on East Street, the famous and scenic Epsom Downs Racecourse, a multiplex Odeon cinema, Horton Park Farm and the Ashley Centre, a local shopping mall.

All staff at Murach House receive initial and ongoing training, and complete a six-week induction programme which enables them to gain a wealth of knowledge that supports excellent outcomes for the residents within our care. The team are also expected to further their knowledge by completing the Care certificate in line with legislative requirements, going on to achieve a level 2 diploma in care, depending on their previous employment experiences. The staff support ratio at Murach House ensures that residents are effectively supported in being an integral part of both their local and wider communities, and also with providing opportunities to access activities of their choice.

At Murach House we believe that all of our residents have the right to live a full life, and support each young person in achieving their potential. We believe everyone should be both encouraged and empowered to recognise themselves as individuals and promote their everyday life choices, whilst ensuring that they are fully supported to do so. We have a range of both indoor and outdoor person-centred activities available, and plenty of space and quiet areas for people to relax. We encourage our residents to be as independent as possible by promoting ownership of the home and we pride ourselves on providing a friendly, supportive and calm environment that ensures our residents feel safe, respected and supported.
