Tigh Calman

igh Calman, meaning "Pigeons House" in reference to the site's previous ownership, is a six-bedded house set in a 30-acre site with countryside views and a tranquil-feeling environment. The house was converted in July 2017 to become residential care for young adults. The light and airy home benefits from having a large country-style kitchen with a separate dining room and two lounges with open fireplaces.

This home has the space both inside and outside for the young adults who live here to express themselves in a beautiful and safe environment, in order to learn new skills and live a full and active life. All of the bedrooms are generously proportioned and are fitted with their own en-suite facilities.

Many of the young adults living at Tigh Calman access our on-site adult education college "Calman Colaiste", which boasts the best up-to-date facilities to assist learners in the development of the their education and skills. This, in turn, empowers learners to better express themselves and allows them to understand and reach their full potential.

Our young adults have access to a variety of activities on a daily basis that they can choose whether or not to participate in, including organised trips out, aromatherapy and speech therapy, ASDAN, horticulture and animal husbandry.

We encourage our young adults to be as independent as possible, giving them a sense of ownership and belonging. Community presence is also very important to us at Tigh Calman, and we utilise all the amenities available as part of everyday life.
